I considered adding a blog; that may still follow. However I will use this site to add information on what I'm doing, what is coming, etc.
2.11.12 In addition to facebook, etsy and this site, Kathryn's Gallery can also be found on artfire.com! For all look up Kathryn's Gallery!
1.22.12 Despite everything going on, I was able to make 2 more fashions yesterday. Three new designs have been added to the Deviant Reproduction list! Wa Hoo!. 3 will be posted to etsy today!
1.15.12 I have 4 dresses from previous times done. I made 4 more this weekend. Detail work still needs to happen, but I feel very productive. They will be listed soon to etsy!
1.14.12 Survived Friday the 13th! It started quite interestingly, but I'm warm now. Cut some new patterns, not like the ones done were enough. I keep changing my mind on how I want to make them, themes, and charities. I want more continuity between listings. I plan on adding more to the Barbie fashions this week (haha). I am look for a corrent tnt body for my Marlo blonde flip barbie. On 1.21 I will have a better idea of my schedule for the next two weeks. Current business plan may change.
1.5.12 All sections of my etsy store are officially running! I have jewelry, doll fashions and supplies listed. Go browse!!
1.3.12 It's a new year! With it is the excitment of possibilites and the mourning of a lost loved one, my Jacky boy. There is a new design ready to go. I finally figured out how I wanted Party Lights to look. I've been toying with the design for about a year. I haven't given up, which I normally would have with other designs. There was something about this concept that I could not let go. I always have the best laid plans, but am notourious for not finishing them. My hopes for Kathryn's Gallery this year include: one ooak/or limited piece each Monday listed to etsy, one Classic listed on Tuesday, Wednesday jewelry making supplies or barbie listed to etsy or ebay (depending on the item), 1-2 fashions completed each week, and a full doll reroot and unqiue to Kathryn's Gallery fashion (I have many cool fashions sketched out from when I didn't the energy to move, but my brain kept running) listed each season (4 a year). I feel like I sang the 12 Days of Christmas song. It's not necessarily a New Year's resolution, but more I finally had time to sit down and figure a schedule out, and the timing coincided with New Years.
12.25.11 Merry Christmas! I hope you are enjoying time with family. And, remember to keep Christ in Christmas.
12.3.11 Been busy at shows and listing on etsy! I'll be listing most items to etsy from now on. Check back daily for new items!! Christmas Stockings coming, yes, a little late. I just haven't had the time. I have a few deviants fashions almost ready to be listed, too.
9.25.11 Finished a request. For the other request made the charmed chain for 2 bracelets. Now I need to add the toggles after it "rests". Made charms and started to chain two more: one in blue and one in green. Have supplies for a pink-toned one.
9.24.11 My health has been so good I have definitely over-booked myself! Thank you ladies and gent who have offered their help so that I can still partiipate in some shows this season. I greatly appreciate your help. I was hoping for more than 2 new designs this autumn. I have several beautiful designs sketched and ready for prototypes...Money and time are hindering their creation. They will hopefully be ready for the summer season!
8.14.11 Show Schedule updated. More designs drafted for Classics. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll have time to work on prototypes and post to facebook.
8.2.11 Back from vacation. I have added a Baby Items page because of recent happenings. Congratulations to my sister and her husband. I'm excited to meet my niece in October. Work is picking up and requests are unavailable during August (as stated on commissions page).
7.11.11 Finished the large order. I am NOT taking any current requests. I have MANY obligations that were unforeseen. When will requests be open again? Hard to say. I may have availability in September. I have three weeks open (last two in Sept and first of Oct). Since most weekends I will be at shows I will not have my normal time to work on requests. I will have FASHIONS and JEWELRY at shows. I have many ideas I want to make and am excited for.
7.7.11 Still working on requests. I'm booked for the rest of the summer. Two new designs this week. Well, I posted a prototype on Facebook a few weeks ago. I separated the earrings and necklace from each other and designed a match for each one. They will be released soon to etsy and listed on Patches Jewelry, Classic Designs this weekend or next week (hopefully). I updated the Show Schedule. I stated if applying or applied. Once I hear either way I'll update the page again. I have a lot on my plate, which I do like, but it does seem very overwhelming at the moment. I've set personal deadlines for myself - haha. My Batman:TAS has kept me going through all of it. :)
Tips: When working with satin always seam guard. Have the outside side face up and not down on the feetdogs. If you need to iron use the space just past polyester but not to the next full setting and have on high steam. Have patience and use a circular motion. This will help reduce the chance of ironed wrinkles, which are even harder to get rid of. Store wrapped around a cylinder tube.
When working with faux fur mark the pattern on the back. Use detailing scissors (not sure of exact name), cut slowly and avoid cutting the actual "fur". Don't put the pattern on the bottom edge. Fabric stores usually just cut and don't care about the pile. Cutting from this edge will create a dense spot of chopped hair that looks funny. Use caution when sewing. The base material can stretch. Pin!
6.1.11 Last day of work for a few weeks - yeah! Finished jewelry order. I am starting a fashion order. No new orders will be taken for several weeks until I finish the order. Individual jewelry pieces can still be requested. Don't forget shows are every Saturday.
5.14.11 Well day one of the FM did not go well. Wind took down the turnstiles and broke two. Launched site on Facebook. Not sure how to make it pop, but it's there. 30% off jewelry sles on May 21st at the Farmers' Market.
5.7.11 I found a Farmers' Market that still had availability. I always feel a step behind, but I'm glad to have found a venue. See the gallery on Cotner Blvd., May 14 - Sept 17. It's May; work is taking a majority of the time. Creativity to hopefully start in June.
5.1.11 How things have improved! I still need to do detail work of the five fashions I made 2 weeks ago. It is the BUSY time of the year at work. Between meetings, testing and completely revamping practices almost all attention is focused on work. Sorry for delays in responding to e-mails! Haymarket is a no-go, too many jewelry vendors. I am seeking an alternative venue. Maybe I'll finally have the energy to try out etsy. I've been meaning to for awhile, but didn't have the energy. I will list jewelry on etsy and split fashion listings between etsy and ebay. Etsy's A LOT cheaper so hopefully I will get bites there.
4.16.11 Had a sewing splurge. Shells done and awaiting detail work for 5 fashions: Pretty as a Picture, Apple Print style Sheath (new!), Evening Splendour (new!), Beau Time (new!), and Garden Party. Cut and sitting on my table: Music Center Matinee Fashion.
4.12.11 My thyroid has finally succombed to radiation and medication! Ding-dong the witch is dead! Now that my body is no longer under attack things have gotten better; however, I can already tell we are not at the right dose.
3.26.11 Isolation is over! I was not able to bring all my supplies with me, but I did four doll reroots and freshened up the mundane repro face. They are pictured in Doll Restorations. I'm working on a design release plan, but I'm not going to share because of past history. The sewing machine has been brought out of exile, well one of them. I've pulled out the already cut fashions from my last blast of creative energy. For sanity sake I'll focus on these fashions instead of neglecting them to cut more and then never return. Most releases should be in sets of 3 or 4.
3.12.11 Well it's been a while...I have been making a LOT of jewelry. The classics are earning their name sakes. I'm planning the male fashion line. I have MANY deviant mash-ups sketched and ready for trial. Dadadada... it's quite possible that a few won't work out or more than a few (more like it). I keep using "I hope", but I am praying the "I hope"s turn into did and doings. I'd like to return to the productive days I once thrived in. Many ideas, many hopes, many dreams. Many thanks to all who have been supportive during these times. Less than 6 days!
1.30.11 Making large supplies order to complete requests. Then on to Classics so that they can be photographed and posted on website. After that, I will start creating Classics and some OOAK jewelry designs for the Farmers' Market. I'm starting to get interested in rooting again, uh oh. That is a big time gulper. Yes...I am gearing up to sew again, too.
1.23.11 After much sorrow at the year's end I'm starting to create again. There will be 8 classic designs and possible 9th available this year. I'm placing an order for supplies to start production. I'm gearing up for the procedure in March and then hopefully I'll be able to get in full swing for the Farmers' Market. In honor of Jesse, there will be a new line added to the fashion area. Ordering process for jewelry has/will change.
12.4.10 Show went well today. There have been several jewelry requests made and filled. It is good to be feeling better than before. My desire is to start making some fashions soon. I would like to next weekend, but I have a feeling it won't be until after the new year. There is something about the winter that makes me want to sew. It may be the memory of Wisconsin and sewing in the cold basement for hours upon hours with my sister. Whatever the reason, I want to sew again (which I haven't had the desire to do in a LONG time). I am not taking requests on fashions, yet. I have about 100 fashions, yes really 100, that I have in my head to make. I have some new reproductions and something completely new. I have sketched out about 30 new looks. These will come first, before requests. I have MANY jewelry pictures to add. The jewelry pages should be getting a new look in the coming months.
11.16.10 Kathryn's Gallery is now in BUSINESS! The hobby has grown into a business. Our next public shows will be 11.20, and 12.4-5. More requests are being taken.
11.3.10 Visit me at the Lancaster Event Center this coming weekend! MY FIRST SHOW! A second person may be coming soon to Kathryn's Gallery.
10.9.10 I will be using Etsy for jewelry and some fashions now on. Some items should be posted this week.
10.08.10 Well things have been finally figured out after a couple days at the hospital, lab work and appointments. I'm finally starting to be me again. It'll take time, but I'll be up to speed. Jewelry sale was somewhat successful. My hope is to have a booth at the Season of Crafts this November. More information will follow. I have more pictures of jewelry to add.
9.16.10 My health has been atrocious. After months of misery they are finally starting to figure this out. I haven't been able to create anything because I've been so sick.

6.28.10 WOW eBay has laid down the gauntlet! 100 free auctions from June 29 - July 15. I will be busy!!!
6.25.10 Finished the large requested order - thank you! Moving on to some reroots. I will try to list at least a fashion a week if not two. I just don't want to burn out on sewing. I do want to try out my new sewing machine so there may possibly be a few more created than 1 or 2. Show time Synergy.
6.14.10 Busy with a request. Work has winded down for the present time which is enjoyable. Hopefully it will continue. Machine has been fixed after the tension went out. I also bought a back-up machine. It appears to be an up grade. I will still use my normal machine as I know it.
5.24.10 It's been quite a month! There will be no new auctions for the rest of the month. Work is requiring all my attention. It's the crazy time of year. I'll be happy when CRT's, LRP's, etc. are done. I came up with another brain child...big surprise. Hopefully, I'll stick with it. I bought some new models through the barbiecollector.com sale on top of clearance prices. It was very exciting. I also splurged for the birthday and bought some repros on ebay. I still want a vintage swirl. I just love them. While doing this, and monitoring feeding time I noticed that the repro bubbles are crappy. The hair is grossly bushy. I popped the head of one the new doll, cut and plucked the hair. I'm half through the reroot. She already looks better. I have another bubble, a blonde. Of course this led me to ebay again. I have been buying cheap repros to restyle. I won't do it an American Girl or swirl, unless I want a new color; but those 80 inspired ponytails and bubbles will get makeovers. Off to yet another meeting.
5/04/10 I have made 2 vests for Sorority Meeting -- not a big fan of either. I had an idea.... I am thinking I will make i in the same fashion as the halter top to Mood For Music. Instead of me crocheting it (I don' knit), I will cut up a knit and line it in tulle. I'm hoping that that'll work. Ideas to focus on next? I need to buy some more silk. I like the way it fits the dolls.
5/02/10 Migraines have finally been managed. Three fashions listed today. I will try to list at least 2 on Sunday. Nothing new has been cut or assembled. i am taking suggestions on what to focus on next.
4/23/10 Spring Fever is draining. Glad hives are over. Allergies are stuffy as ever. I will list Matinee Fashion and Sheath Sensation tomorrow.
4/10/20 Me being me, again. I cut Sophisticated Lady, but didn't feel like assembling, but instead, focused on the other fashions created. There will be no Francie fashion at this point the tension was off and I don't like the way the seam at the back looks for about a cm. The green topped and floral print Pretty as a Picture will not be detailed. Sheath Sensation for the silkstone will not be detailed. Matinee Fashion completed and ready for pictures, same as the blue Sheath Sensation. Eyes are tired. This week has taken its toll. I actually counted days. I haven't done that in five years. I will begin on crocheting the vest to Sorority Meeting. hives on hands are slowing progress too.
4/7/10 Planning for this weekend... detail work, maybe a ooak or two, Theatre Date, Enchanted Evening, and Sophisticated Lady,
4/4/10 Happy Easter! Sorority Meeting, Fashion Editor in pink, Busy Gal, a Francie summer fashion, and Garden Party are also done in shell form. I'm still bummed that I ruined the Sophisticated Lady in green. Taffeta is so unforgiving. A little water and permanent discoloration. Other than packing up fashions in the closet for safety, no work was done. I'd love to have a conducive work area that could be easily, consistently accessible.
4/3/10 All auctions have ended. My goal was to have fashions finished today, but my day off yesterday was spent running errands, doing chores, and finally having some fun on a walk. I spent today finishing all the shells for fashions and making a quick run to Jo-Ann's. Today I finished Midnight Blue, Student Teacher, Senior Prom, Evening Splendour (won't be for sale), hats for Lunch on the Terrace, etc. These were added to Matinee Fashion, Music Center Matinee, two versions of Pretty as a Picture, Sheath Sensation, etc. Detail work will begin tonight hopefully, tomorrow (unfortunately doubtfully), and then throughout the week. The weekend's hopeful listings will mostly likely be posted next week; that is if all work is done. There is much scheduled this week so detail work is unlikely. So it goes. I do need a new movie for background noise. I've watched mine too many times.
